Procedures

Procedure Description:
Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose by reducing or increasing size, removing a hump, changing shape of tip or bridge, narrowing span of nostrils,or changing angle between nose and upper lip.

What To Expect:
Reshaping is generally done through incisions inside the nose, but there may be an incision passing across the central portion of the nose between the nostrils. It is sometimes necessary to narrow the base of the nose or reduce the size of the nostrils.
The nose is reduced or in some cases built up, by adjusting its supporting structures - either removing or adding bone and cartilage. The skin and soft tissues then redrape themselves over the new framework.

Preprocedure:
During your pre-operative consultation in our office, Dr. Harvey will take your medical history, perform an examination, take clinical photographs, and recommend and explain the procedures that are appropriate for you. Our Skin Care Specialist, Anne Elterman, RN, may evaluate and recommend care that will optimize your surgical results. Patient Coordinators, Patricia Gottschalk and Mamie Lee, will discuss financial information and assist in schedule your procedure.

Postprocedure:
Recovery: Back to work: 1 to 2 weeks. More strenuous activities: 2 to 3 weeks. Avoid hitting nose or sunburn: 8 weeks. Final appearance: 1 year or more.
